About Rue and the Crew

Rue and the Crew is dedicated to providing wholesome, fun stories to engage children who are ready to read.  This video series was founded on the belief that because content on the web is widely accessible, it can be used to reach anyone.  Reading should be fun.  Educational tools should be diverse and engaging.  And every child deserves a friend like Rue.

Repetition is key to learning.  Rue and the Crew videos animate text as they are read by a narrator.  Our goal is to help children who struggle to read left to right and to allow them to follow along.  After several watches of the same story, a child may be able to remember the lines on their own.  If they would like to try to read it themselves, try the following:

• Mute the narrator,
• Slow down the playback speed, and
• Let them give it a go! 

The child may require dozens of watches of the same story before being ready.  That is normal!  Let them work at their own pace.  If you do a couple of reads with the narrator muted (slowly!), they may be encouraged to try themselves.
